Mount Hood
This shot was taken from the south flanks of Mount Hood from the Timberline Parking lot in late May 2009. The Palmer Glacier allows for skiing until July, conditions permitting.

Mt. Hood, which has an elevation over 11,000 feet, is popular with visitors as it easily accessible on Hwy. 26, conditions permitting, and is less than a one hour drive from Portland.
Skiing and snowboarding are popular activies on Mt. Hood. There are six ski areas on or near the mountain.
The Timberline Lodge, on the south slope of Mt. Hoood at nearly 6,000 feet elevation, is a National Historic Landmark. Exteriors for the movie "The Shining" were filmed at the Lodge.
The views from the Timberline Lodge area are inspiring in all directions.
